Nowadays, many domestic gasoline engines have applied exhaust gas turbocharger technology. This technology can not only increase power, but also increase torque. However, some problems should be paid attention to when using engines with this structure, otherwise it will cause turbines. Premature damage to the supercharger.
Let me first talk about the general structure of the turbocharger. The exhaust gas turbocharger is mainly composed of a pump wheel and a turbine, and of course there are other control components. The pump wheel and the turbine are connected by a shaft, that is, the rotor. The exhaust gas from the engine drives the pump wheel. The pump wheel drives the turbine to rotate. The turbine rotates and then pressurizes the intake system. The supercharger is installed on the exhaust side of the engine, so the working temperature of the supercharger is very high, and the rotor speed is very high when the supercharger is working, which can reach hundreds of thousands of revolutions per minute, such a high speed and temperature As a result, common mechanical needle rollers or ball bearings cannot work for the rotor. Therefore, turbochargers generally use full floating bearings, which are lubricated by oil, and coolant is used to cool the supercharger.
Therefore, for this structural principle, some problems should be paid attention to when using this engine:
1. After starting the engine, run it at idle speed for a while to make the lubricating oil reach a certain working temperature and pressure, so as to avoid accelerated wear and even jamming due to the lack of oil in the bearing when the load is suddenly increased. 2. When the vehicle is parked, the supercharger rotor has a certain inertia, so the engine should not be turned off immediately. It should be idle for a period of time to make the temperature and speed of the supercharger rotor gradually drop. Immediately turning off the engine will cause the oil to lose pressure, and the rotor will not be lubricated when it rotates by inertia and will be damaged. 3. Frequently check the oil volume to avoid bearing failure and rotating parts jamming due to lack of oil. 4. Regularly replace the engine oil and engine filter. Because the full-floating bearing has high requirements for lubricating oil, the manufacturer's specified brand of engine oil should be used. 5. Clean and replace the air filter element regularly. Dirty air filter will increase the air intake resistance and reduce the engine power. 6. Frequently check the airtightness of the air intake system. Air leakage will cause dust to be sucked into the supercharger and engine, and damage the supercharger and engine. 7. Due to the high precision of the turbocharger rotor bearing, the working environment requirements for maintenance and installation are very strict, so when the turbocharger fails or is damaged, it should be repaired at the designated maintenance station.
